What the journey looks like
In the morning the bus crosses Romania (Timișoara), in the afternoon it reaches the Ukrainian border and by early evening it stops in Berehove and Mukachevo. Stryi and Lviv follow in the evening, Rivne and Zhytomyr overnight, and Kyiv at dawn. To Lviv it is a daytime trip; to Kyiv, one night on the bus. Border waiting times vary, so plan meet-ups with a little slack.
On board there is a toilet, air conditioning, 220 V sockets, USB charging and Starlink internet. You can work, watch films or stay in touch with family.
Luggage, documents and what to bring
The fare includes one piece of luggage up to 25 kg and hand luggage up to 5 kg. Extra luggage is 1,200 UAH per piece up to 25 kg.
You need a biometric passport. Ukrainian citizens with a biometric passport can enter Montenegro, Serbia and Romania visa-free; check the current rules on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website before you travel.
Boarding is early in the morning, so pack the night before. For the cabin, bring water, snacks, a power bank with a cable and, if you are going all the way to Kyiv, a blanket or travel pillow for the night. Keep your passport in your hand luggage rather than in the hold: you will need it at the borders.
